Even a few years ago I wouldn’t have entertained such an extreme thought as this, but it is becoming more and more apparent that the Republican party or its base is being moved so far to the right that it can no longer be ignored that the conservatives of this country are no longer serious about the Constitution or Democracy. Since the days of Reagan they have allowed and been in bed with the hardcore fundamentalist Evangelical Christians which have dreamed of a Theocratic nation, but they are only a small part of the total picture. The reactionary nature of the party and abject worship of wealth and the people who hold that wealth has corrupted them and led them to create laws that systematically dismantle the structure of our Democracy brick by brick. With each passing election since 1976 the Republican party has steered itself a little more down the Fascist path, until now forty years later they are almost undistinguishable except by name.

            I know there are plenty of right-wing people who are calling me liar. Why not? You believe yourself a follower of God and associate Fascists with atheists and genocide, but there are numerous articles that can prove to you what I say here is true. One is a very simple little quiz by Randa Morris here http://www.addictinginfo.org/2014/12/09/are-you-a-nazi-a-ten-question-quiz-for-conservatives/. It gives you ten questions to ask yourself. Ten questions that if you agree with you would like the NAZI’s and Fascism. The thing is, they are principles that the current Republican Party espouses openly. I could recount them all here, but that would keep people from reading and taking the quiz. Unfortunately, I doubt any Republican will take it and actually think about it because they will automatically assume that it is just “liberal lies.”

            The thing is, I would like Republicans to truly think about your party and your philosophy for a moment. What do you truly stand for? What do your Representatives actually do for you? Do they do what you want, or do they do what their corporate master’s want? Think about your answers very hard. Try to remember how much they have actually helped you personally, and not the rich guy who doesn’t need the help. After all, he is rich. Giving him more money just makes him richer so he and his family has more money to spend on bigger fancier cars and other toys you’ll never have. You’ve seen the reality shows - Keeping Up With the Kardashians, and other shows that focus on the ultra rich. The people in Congress and your state houses say they are working for you, but they pander to these people, because these rich people fund their elections and keep them in office. Sure they give lip service to your causes, but every time you turn around they are cutting services that you need, raising your taxes, and making it harder for you to survive by getting rid of the jobs you rely on to make money. All this time they are cutting the taxes of the wealthy, giving them kickbacks, and even more incentives to close their factories and move them overseas.

            Do any of these things truly help you? Do the people who enact these measures represent you? Aren’t these the sorts of things that are angering you? This is all by design. That anger is what they want so they can steer you where they want. When you have lost much and you are starting to feel desperate, the rhetoric they spew starts to take a deep hold on your consciousness and you begin to long for better days. You want a hero to pull you out of the mess. You want to make America “Great Again.”

            Do you begin to see the manipulation? It is nothing new. The Fascists and other totalitarian governments use it all the time. It is important that the liberals and Democrats NOT lose this election and start educating the populace. WE MUST TAKE THIS SERIOUSLY. I  can’t stress that enough. The Republican Party is in the last stages of a Fascist takeover. It will not be long before they are openly calling for isolation, then actively doing mass deportation of anyone who they disapprove of. Hatred is fueling their party. Hatred for anything they think is not American, and not American enough. Right now they are controlling a majority of the state houses and we need to push them out of there, and make certain they never again control the White House. The reason I say this is simple. A party that is fueled and led by hate will only have one goal in the long run. To kill. History will repeat itself unless we have the foresight to stop it now while we still have the chance.

            You may think I am being overly dramatic in this warning, but then I would point you to the numerous rants online against our current President when he mentions anything against guns, or even going to see the victim’s families from the latest mass shooting. They cannot even hold a rational discussion without resorting to death threats and racist remarks about something that should be approached with compassion. If that is too controversial, how about talk radio. Is that also too controversial? Hmm, let’s go to mainstream media and Fox News and their prime time talk show hosts like Bill O'Reilly and Sean Hannity. They also have guests on that decry liberal politicians, the President, immigrants, and have even had people fuel the hatred. Since the start of Fox News nearly twenty years ago they have been a constant source of hate speech, especially since  President Barack Obama has been in office. 

            I hate to say it, but the Republican party has decided that the Constitution does not matter and neither does Democracy. They have given in to the oligarchs and to the religious zealots and are fervently trying to reformat the country into something completely different. The question is whether we willingly go along with their designs to change the country or not. This may be the very last election where we have a chance to make a difference, so I hope everyone who still believes in our Constitution and Democracy shows up at the voting booths to try and make their vote heard.
