Teachers:
The state curriculum is becoming more demanding, requiring our students to learn more in less time, all while increasing the number and frequency of standardized tests (giving us even less time to teach important material). This makes us sad, because we want to share knowledge with students, but are forced to give them large amounts of homework to make up for lost time in the classroom.

Hi, I’m Ashley, I’m 21 and a college student on medical leave. September will be particularly hard for me emotionally because I’ll be turning 22 with more health issues and debt than last year. I really thought I would have everything together by now but it feels as if I’m failing at simply existing. As I’ve mentioned in other posts, I’ve been really sick. My multiple sclerosis symptoms, especially chronic pain and fatigue, have really sparked up and compromised my ability to work for the entire summer. My girlfriend Tiff has been keeping up with our rent and bills in addition to taking care of me and covering my student and patient bills. Sometimes I’m so ill that they have to take off multiple days in order to look after me and help me move around the apartment. Unfortunately I still have burdens to take care of even in my current state of inmobility. This is just some of the debt I’m dealing with currently:
Attached is how much I owe my school before I can take classes again and how much I owe a hospital for making the mistake of thinking I needed to go to the emergency room when I could have just suffered for hours in my own home for free.
Tumblr has been really wonderful and helped raise money for our past payments. Sometimes we have to compromise and push back the deadlines and allow a late fee, but it has always been worth it to ask for help here even when I’m embarrassed or get harassed about it. I’m not anticipating that enough can be raised to clear all of my debt, but we’re $200 short on rent and in the same week have an upcoming payment to my school that I’ll need $175 for (after compromising from the $352 plan). I also have to save for an eye exam, neurology appointment, and an updated MRI. I have no health insurance or family support.
As much as I need help with everything, my priority is the $200 for our rent. I’ve been procrastinating on making a post about this because I thought we could reach it on our own without the shame of publicly asking for financial support again, but Tiff’s next check won’t arrive in time, so now it’s kind of an emergency that we need signal boosted quickly. Rent is due on the 1st of September but we’ll probably pay late on the 3rd. Please help us until then.
